The Story: While the city of Chicago sleeps, a war wages in the streets between two powerful families. While the public assumes organized crime is nothing more than a chapter torn out of America’s history, the Costa and Moran families battle for territory and domination.
Caught up in the middle of this sinister world is Josette, the only child of Salvatore Costa, the ringleader and notorious godfather of Chicago’s Italian mafia. After the Irish Morans attempted to assassinate her when she was a child, Josette’s parents hid her behind the walls of their sprawling estate and kept her contact with outsiders to a minimum. But now Josette’s eighteen, and she’s questioning if a long life behind walls is worth trading for a potentially short one filled with excitement and adventure and all the things she’s only lived in her dreams.
On the night she decides to risk becoming just an anonymous face in the crowd, Josette realizes that death isn’t only a possibility—it’s a certainty. Yet when a young man comes to her rescue, the turbulent waters between life and death are further muddied.

The mere mention of (modern day) Romeo and Juliet with its own flair plus Nicole Williams had me sold. There’s so much I’d like to say about this book, but I’m having to choose my words with extra care. The element of the plot that most appealed to me was how it kept twisting in unexpected directions, and the last thing I want is to give too much away.

Crossing Stars is an incredibly powerful story about love, friendship, and the potentially destructive nature of secrets.

The romantical element was brilliant and refreshing. I have always loved forbidden romance type stories but they really need to have some real depth in them and consequences I can feel. This isn’t some predictable kind of love story but this forbidden slow dance that just leaves you breathless and your heart pounding especially at the end. It’s not simple or easy or even really a “romance” but more of these forbidden feelings that are just starting to really be explored before the SHIT HITS THE FAN.

Josette, our heroine is the only child of Salvatore Costa, the ringleader and notorious godfather of Chicago’s Italian mafia and one of the most powerful organized crime leaders. Because of the danger that lurks within their community, her family has tried to keep her out of the eyes of both the public and the other reigning mob family in Chicago, the Heat.

But the sheltered life she has known for 18 years turned 360 degrees the night she met Rylan.

Rylan let her feel emotions she wasn’t used to experiencing. He made her feel nervous and excited. Scared and strong. Apprehensive and eager. Love. That is! They barely know each other but the sensation they feel is strong enough to defy their families. And because fate is not on their side, they make secret plan to run away.

Everything in this story is written so brilliantly. And while, initially it took me about 20 pages to really get into it, the way the story is told it’s just so hard not to be absorbed into this new world and its political structure, the character and the romance. And the plot just moved along at a great pace that kept me engaged and at times on the edge of my seat. Nicole Williams knows how to tell a good story!

Josette is a fantastic heroine that really stood out to me. She is very smart, determined and strong-minded. There was something about Rylan that she sensed and she wanted to know. I think it’s because they both had this rebellious sort of kindred spirit thing going on but I equally loved Josette and Rylan and who they were and what they fought for.

The story starts a bit slow but like a good chess game the pieces are being moved in a subtle manner until SHIT HAPPENS and oh does it happen. I was gasping for breath when I realized what was going on and what it meant for our heroine and the story and then the action just kept coming at me and was relentless until the very emotional ending. The story just kept beating the hell out of me as all my emotions and FEELS (anger, sadness, shock, betrayal, triumph) exploded out. So HOLD ON TO YOUR PANTS! This action got quite intense.

Nicole Williams kept me guessing about the ending right up until the last page, and I came away feeling rather tearful, but immensely satisfied. Though not your typical romance novel, this book has enough of the crucial components—heartache, suspense, sexual tension—to entice many fans of this genre. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I’m the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the LOST & FOUND series, the CRASH series, and a handful of others. Basically, I get to do what I love. Every single day. I write romance because I’m a sucker for a good love story, and I write happy endings because there are too few of them in real life.

ARE YOU READY FOR A TWIST?

Who is Iris? Where did she come from? Where has she gone?

Alasdair Masters has more questions than answers about his new, too young obsession, and when he finds out she’s been lying to him, from their first meeting to their last one, he’s more confused than ever about her feelings, her intentions.

And what’s just as confusing are his own feelings. Has he turned something purely physical into something emotional in his own head? Is any of it mutual?

The only thing he doesn’t question is whether he’ll keep going back for more.

DAIR
Me, I was simple. I was order. A very neat, efficient machine that ran on nothing but air.

Me plus anyone else, well, that was another matter. And me plus Iris, that was a monster of a machine, with all gears going at different speeds, some spinning off their hinges, just going mad, but it was a wonderful madness, at full throttle, misfiring in all directions.

It felt wonderful and dreadful.
I was breaking down, and it felt amazing.
And terrifying.

This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Come to Me Quietly comesa scorching new adult romance in the Closer to You series.

A second chance at life…

A second chance at love…

Jared Holt never thought he deserved either—until he found both in the arms of Aly Moore. Aly has loved Jared for as long as she can remember, and she’s more than ready for the future they’re making together. But Jared can’t help remembering his own family. And he’ll never forgive himself for what happened to them. How can he allow himself the very happiness he once destroyed? To live a life worthy of Aly, Jared knows he has to stop running and finally put his past to rest. But when he decides to face his demons head on, he encounters more than he bargained for: a dangerous mix of jealousy, lies, and dishonest intentions. When those intentions threaten Aly, Jared loses all control, giving into the rage that earned him his bad boy reputation years before. And he’ll fight to protect her no matter what it costs…even if he destroys himself in the process.

“I always knew his destination would lead him back to me.”

I’m pretty sure if it were possible A.L. Jackson’s books would burst into flames if they could. They are that HOT! Like blush worthy to the infinity power and beyond. But the best part is underneath all the scorching bedroom scenes, she can craft a good story for both sides of the romance, too. I really loved what she did here; letting go of the past to create a new future.
We have seen in book one, Come To Me Quietly how Aly and Jared fought for their love. Jared never had an easy life growing up. He made mistakes in the past that caused him to be the way he is now. Self-destruction. Self-denial. He feels that there is something fundamentally bad within his life, within his very soul, and that this part of his existence needs to be kept under strict control, hidden from everyday life at all costs. It just took all of that to come to a screeching halt, to get to the point of having nothing.

“I’d lost the right to be loved.
Leaving me to rot.
I’d accepted it because that’s what I deserved.
My life as a penance.
A due.”

But Aly’s love for him is so powerful that she refused to give up on him. Constantly reminding him that he, too deserves to be happy, to be loved, to be needed.

“Jared is a good man.
I’d always seen it.
Without him, our live would never be so full.
He was important.
Needed.”

And now that they are back in each other’s arms, their life will change in an exciting and surprising way, adjusting to new responsibilities and expectations as a couple, as future parents.
Will Jared finally break his walls and let Aly in completely?
Will Aly have enough time to make Jared realize his true worth before he goes to his usual ways of self-damaging?

“This isn’t going to be easy.
Promise me you won’t run when it gets ugly, Jared. Because life always does, and I can’t bear the thought of living without you in mine.”

“Won’t ever let you go, Aly. I promise, I won’t ever let you go.”

I totally adore this story about the true meaning of love, and the ultimate message that it is for sure a cure to all emotional wounds and voids. Love is not a magic stick, but it is not anything less than that even. If you just let love wash over you, it will heal you, brings you genuine happiness and makes you whole again.
Everything about Jared and Aly’s transition from friendship to relationship felt natural. Jared needed a dose of Aly’s responsibility and, in turn, Aly benefited from Jared’s sense of adventure. But they both have a lot of work to do to accomplish their happy ending.
I truly admire A.L. Jackson, definitely as a person, but she constantly blows me away with her writing. I have read all of her books and each book I think, there’s no way she can meet or exceed the previous one. But each time, she does, and I think I need to stop wondering how she does it. I have certain authors that no matter what they write, I always enjoy their work and Amy is one of those authors. Her writing is sharp, I love her dialogue, and even the other situations she folds in fit in so naturally. Words are so beautifully written, so carefully chosen, I really had a hard time putting it down.
Come To Me Softly is about a lot more than two people coming together…it’s about finding the strength in yourself to make appropriate and necessary changes in your life. Amy also does a great job of slipping in family issues and solid friendships; for such a compact book, I had a great grasp on Jared and Aly’s separate lives and each subplot was given an appropriate amount of attention and detail. I really appreciate that kind of attention in a romance novel. I haven’t found it super often and I love that Amy never fails to give me those. I was so invested I actually wouldn’t have minded if the story was a little longer, and certain situations were explored more deeply. It’s that addicting!
If you’re looking for a touching read that will tear at your heartstrings then you should give this book a go. It made me cry before putting a smile on my face but that’s the way I like it and I loved the confirmation of what I believe to be right as much as A.L. Jackson does in this story. 5 beautiful stars.

A.L. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of Take This Regret and Lost to You, as well as other contemporary romance titles, including Pulled, When We Collide, If Forever Comes, and Come to Me Quietly.

She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student. She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.

Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW AND GIVEAWAYS: LILY LOVE BY MAGGI MYERS

Title: Lily Love
Author: Maggi Myers
Expected Release: June 24th

Caroline used to have it all: she was madly in love with her husband, Peter, and they worshiped their beautiful baby girl. But as Lily grows into a toddler, Caroline notices that her daughter seems to live and act with a disconnect, and soon the perfect future Caroline had envisioned, along with her marriage, begin to crumble. Now she and Peter are no longer lovers, they’re plaintiffs in the throes of divorce while still struggling to care for Lily. After years of blame and overwhelming despair, Caroline’s chance encounter with a stranger at University Hospital opens her eyes to the prospect of accepting new support, new loves, and new dreams.
From the acclaimed author of The Final Piece comes a story of a family broken and unable to cope with a daughter’s disability. And a mother who finds that letting go of the life she imagined may be the only way to get to the life she was meant for.

“Tilting at Windmills”

“The only thing you feel is the force of the blast rattling your body. All that is left is a crater where something stood before and a shockwave that flattens the surrounding area for miles. Every dream I had for my daughter, every plan, every single thing was flattened to the ground, and at the center was the crater where I had been.”

Those words, poignant beyond belief, those words epitomize the feeling a parent has when they realize that their child doesn’t fit into society’s definition of “normal.” That pain is real. Dreams are shattered, and your life is no longer your own. It’s in that very moment you fall apart. You question. You do, you question, You question everyone, but you especially question yourself. It’s in that moment that you fall to you knees and scream “WHY? WHY ME?” It’s directly after that meltdown, the guilt ensues, guilt that cripples you. Your heart is broken. You are broken. This isn’t what you signed on for. All of these emotions hit you, dead smack in the face. In the face, and what do you do?

It’s in that moment when your world crashes at your feet that you learn that sometimes the unexpected teaches us our greatest lessons. It’s in life’s tragedies that we find our true purpose. It’s through the beauty of the unknown that we find the beauty in the simplistic. It’s when we can no longer imagine moving forward, that we find our strength. Sometimes there is beauty in the enigma, if we simply slow down and allow it to surface. Occasionally, life has a bigger message, and we have a purpose greater than our own.

“Days like this will strip you raw. They happen regardless of what we do, not because of it.”

In the book Lily Love by Author Maggi Myers that’s the lesson we are taught. You learn acceptance not only of others but of yourself. This book is a tale of Caroline’s journey to find love and acceptance, not only of others but of her own. This is the remarkable story of a mother’s love. A mother’s doubt. A mother’s questioning. The charters in this book are no only real, but they are beautiful. We are privy to see them all unfold and grow. The writing style is impeccable. Mrs. Myers, is amazing. She’s got a way with words. She chooses the most eloquent word choices but mixes them with just enough snarky to keep you giggling.

Life. It happens whether we want it to or not. When you wake up in this situation what can you do? You do what you have to. You keep going. This story is an amazing journey of life’s lessons in so many formats. There is beauty in these tears, lessons in the pain. Sometimes people are brought into your life, whether it be a child, a friend, or even a stranger, for exactly the right reason. As the mother of a child born with special needs, I personally wish someone had told me the things Caroline is telling in this book. It truthfully would have made my life so much easier. I would have realized that everything I felt was normal, I wouldn’t have felt so guilty and I wouldn’t have questioned my mothering skills. Most of all, I would have let the guilt go. This is a book for all parents, not just those of children with special needs. Parents are people. We have questions, get angry, and make mistakes, it doesn’t make us bad parents, or bad people, quite the contrary it makes us real. The love a parent receives from a special needs child is all encompassing. Life’s purest blessing. For all the struggles we go through, we’ve been given life’s greatest gift.

“From the mouth of my baby girl, comes the most beautiful sentence I’d ever heard. She can’t read her ABC’s or count past ten, but she accepted a stranger, “my” stranger – with openheartedness she not not always receive herself. I’m so incredibly blessed that she is mine, that they both are.”

Born in West Des Moines, IA and raised in Miami, FL, I have an appreciation for the heartland and really good cuban food.

I want to write stories that make people think. The things you thought you knew about other people and their lives? I want to twist those perceptions and make you question everything.

I am a big fan of the underdog. The one that everyone else has written off? That’s where my heart is and where my most inspired writing happens.

PRE-ORDER BLITZ AND EXCERPT: WRECKED BY EMILY SNOW

TITLE: WRECKED
AUTHOR: EMILY SNOW
RELEASE DATE: JUNE 17TH

Two years ago, Evie’s sister died, leaving her lost. Existing without really living. Coping the only way she knew how: by wrecking things.
Last year, Evie exposed her dad’s affairs, finished ripping apart her relationship with her longtime boyfriend, and completely ruined her music scholarship.
But today, she’s reinventing herself at her new university. Desperate to break away from all the destruction she’s caused, Evie’s ready to start over. For her sister, who never even had a chance. And for herself.
Then Rhys, her new voice instructor, happens.
He’s gorgeous and insanely talented, but he’s also a part of the dark past Evie is trying to overcome. Rhys’s brother is the reason why her life went up in flames, the reason why Lily, Evie’s sister, is dead. But even though Rhys is the last person Evie should ever want, for the first time in two years, wrecking things seems…right.
*WRECKED is a standalone novel and is not a part of a series*

I will lose with Rhys Delane.
I will lose the challenge I made myself at the start of this year, and I’ll lose my head, my heart. He’s changed everything. Turned my life upside down in a handful of months.
I don’t know how or why or when I let this happen.
Out the corner of my eye, I see him turn his head to look over at me. “Give me more of you, Evelyn,” he says in a voice that sets my body on fire, a complicated medley of irritation, defiance, and a need that’s bittersweet and painful. Rhys isn’t asking for more. He’s demanding it.
My lips part slightly, but I stop myself before I say something I’ll regret, like I always do when we’re together like this. I pull in a short breath, then a few more. Finally, I meet those unnerving blue-green eyes, letting everything else fade from existence. Agnes Obel’s ethereal, haunting voice, the sound of the rain splattering against the windows, and the monotony of the windshield wipers flinging the storm away—I hear none of that when he’s staring at me like I owe him something.
He wants things I absolutely cannot give.
“You’ve already slept with me.” My voice is purposely void of any emotion, and although his face remains calm, I know I’ve managed to cut him. It’s obvious by how quickly his eyes turn cold. “You have enough.”
And he really does. Because now that I think about it—and even though he’s yet to realize it—I’ve already lost with Rhys Delane. It just took me this long to figure that out.
Emily Snow is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the erotic romance series Devoured, which includes Devoured, All Over You, and Consumed, as well as the new adult novel Tidal. Alasdair Masters is in a rut.  He just hit forty, has been nearly celibate for the past year, and his life has turned into a daily sequence of lonely patterns that revolve around avoiding human contact.

His tidy life is turned on its head when a hot young blonde at the gym that’s been pseudo-stalking him decides to rock his world.  A very young blonde.  Way, way too young for him.  The problem is, he can’t seem to tell her no, and she just keeps coming back for more.

It doesn’t help that he’s ninety percent sure she’s a criminal, and still, he can’t seem to turn her down.  What is a dull introvert to do when a chaotic cyclone that oozes sexuality comes twisting into his life?

At first, he thinks she’ll give him a heart attack, but after his twenty-year marriage ended a year ago, he’s been a little lost, and when she comes crashing into his life, he realizes that he’s never felt more alive.

Is a walk on the wild side just what he needs to get his on track or a disaster in the making?  Is it possible for someone that much younger to be just what he needs, or is she a fortune hunter, as everyone keeps telling him?  Is it his hormones telling him that the mysterious younger woman is the one, or could it be more?

What would happen if you lost everything? If the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally were no longer there for you, how would your world change?
Madeleine Becker lost everything when her parents died when she was ten years old. Ripped from her home and everything that she has ever loved, she is forced to start all over again. The only way for her to move on is to build walls around her heart and keep everyone at a safe distance. Her logic: she can’t get hurt if she doesn’t fall in love.
That theory is blown to pieces when she meets Reid Connely during her freshman year at college. He is gorgeous and darkly mysterious. He understands Maddy’s pain all too well, but sharing his pain would mean breaking down the walls he put up around his own heart. Conflicted between loving Maddy and hiding his dark past, Reid starts to reevaluate his world. Maddy’s inner strength, snarky personality and breath taking beauty help Reid to make peace with his past.
Together they find out what happens when they let love in.
About the Author: Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.
Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.

Book Review: He + She by Michelle Warren

TITLE: HE + SHE
AUTHOR: MICHELLE WARREN

HE is trying to piece together his broken life.
SHE is running away from her wedding day.
TOGETHER, their world is a beautiful lie.
APART, their world is a perfect mess.
He + She is a free-spirited romance about soul-awakening second chances, heartbreak, and hopeful beginnings.

“Not complicated. Only you make it complicated. Life is simple…”

So there is this book and it’s called He + She and there is just one thing you need to know about it…its a bump to the top of your “to be read” list good! I finished this book and wanted to shout from my corner of the world…READ THIS!

“I want the good minutes of the day to take over the bad in this fight, so who cares how it happens, or who I’m with as long as I cultivate smiles when urged in that direction.”

This book is different and in a world of cookie cutter literature He + She stands a head and shoulder about the rest. I went into this read blind. I didn’t even read the synopsis. The book was recommended by a trustworthy friend. That’s all I needed…let me be that trustworthy friend!!

“I want to hide it away from the world. God only knows how tired I am of people knowing everything about me and all the horrible details. I just want to be alone…”

Friend or foe, destiny will always ride shot gun on the road of life, helping to mold the moments that define our life. The painfully heartbreaking to the breathtakingly beautiful, every moment is our own. We make the choice to embrace the moments or to fight them.

“People aren’t just made of rainbows and sugary – sweet candy, though I wish that were the case. Half of who we are is written by our mistakes, mishaps, and imperfections.”

Breaking down this book in a few short paragraphs would ruin your personal reading experience. For fear of spoilers I will remain closed lip. These are the things I can tell you about this book; the storyline is well thought out and the character development exemplary. Michelle’s writing is unspoiled allowing the readers mind to wander along as if part of the story. So final thoughts…buy it! Read it! Love it!
