Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day of her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?

“November 9 is yet another breathtaking novel by Colleen Hoover that’s full of blushing, gushing, and heartache. I loved every page and breathed in every beautiful word.”

review

For every Colleen Hoover book I complete I think how will she top the last or how will I express the feelings and emotions this book brought out of me. I have come to the conclusion that she won’t top the last. Each book stands on its own as a masterpiece. That’s sounds cliché but it is 100% true. It’s crazy insane how effortless Colleen’s writing reads. Regardless of the behind the scenes process, her final product is breathtaking. The perfect moments, as well as the painful ones create a story greater than the pages it is contained in.

Ben and Fallon’s story is a breathtaking. One full of emotions and events that will rock the reader to the core. Very few books make me cry or give me that coveted “book hangover” and November 9 was one of the select few. Colleen Hoover fans will fall in love with Ben and Fallon’s journey. Ben is just… everything! As the story unfolds so will the emotions. You will be talking about this one till the calendar falls on November 9th once again.

November 9 was everything I had hoped for. When I finished it I was just like BRAIN. EXPLODING. BRILLIANT. OMG. I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS. I LOVE EVERYTHING. I’m just so obsessed with this story and obviously the characters. I can’t really put into words, non-spoiler words, to explain what this book did to me and why I loved it so much…it was just everything and made my love for it expand all the way to the undiscovered parts of the universe and back. Colleen Hoover is just so brilliant in the way she truly makes me feel and understand these characters, why they do what they do, their struggles, what they are fighting for, etc. She continues to deliver the perfect amounts of everything I need: amazing character development, complex romances/relationships, hella interesting plot and flawless writing. It’s just one BIG book of badassery and perfection. Everything was just epic!

This is definitely one of my most favorite books of 2015 and I want everyone to meet Fallon and Ben! They are definitely one of those characters you want to wish into existence so that you could be friends with them. There are a whole lot of adjectives I could use to describe them but really you just need to meet them. And the best thing about this book is how Colleen portrays a lot of common experiences — grief, loss, insecurities, falling in love, heartbreaks and forgiveness. It’s just such a delightful and REAL story with strong messages that never feel like they are hitting you over the head. Just straight up REAL TALK through the plot and dialogue that is thought provoking.

I enjoyed the message about loving and forgiving; the hold-your-breath moments, scenes that will make you laugh and cry and happy cry. It was all glorious and I am basically dead still after reading it. I definitely recommend this book to contemporary/realistic fiction fans, readers who want a book that brings the lols and the sentimental feels, a delightful read that made me laugh out loud at times and put my hand to my heart and sigh. Simply amazing!

Staring at the screen of my laptop, I’m trying to figure out how to write this review. I told my blog partner today that Tarryn Fisher is rubbing off on Colleen. It’s a good thing, just not one I was ready for. I wasn’t ready for the darkness. I wasn’t ready for the way I felt listening to this book. My review is for the Audible addition. Between Colleen’s writing and the narrators, I wasn’t ready for the heartache and devastation that each part brought. Zachary Webber is a brilliant voice actor. His ability to bring Ben to life is impressive. I’ve listened to many audio books and Zachary is one of my favorite narrators. This was my first time listening to Angela Goethals and I enjoyed her portrayal of Fallon.

Ben and Fallon’s story is dark, painful, and heart breaking. The pain that these two face was sometimes overwhelming. I joke that after reading so much, I’m immune to these types of stories. It takes a lot to get me to cry. I cried multiple times with this book. I sobbed when the plot shifted and secrets were revealed. I cried at the beautiful way the ending was written. And I bawled like a baby when the secondary characters faced heart wrenching devastation in their lives.

I don’t think my words can really justify my feelings for this book. I have a love/hate relationship with it. It has become my favorite CoHo book. I hated the pain it inflicted on my heart. I hated the breath it stole with its powerful plot twists and horrifically sad storylines. And I hate that I loved every single word of it. I listened to 9 hours and loved every bloody word. Bravo, Colleen! Welcome to the dark side.

About Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover’s love for writing began in 1985 when she was five years old. Her first story was titled “Mystery Bob” and was a huge hit with her mother, who was really good at faking interest.
Colleen continued to write short stories for friends and family until December of 2011, when she decided to write a long story she titled, “Slammed.” She self-published SLAMMED to Amazon in January, 2012 and it hit the NYT’s bestsellers list in May, 2012. She has since signed with Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, and now has six NYT’s bestsellers. Colleen prefers to be called a writer, as the term “author” still terrifies her and makes this feel like a job with expectations. She doesn’t work well under pressure and hopes writing will always remain fun and exciting.

You can follow Colleen on Instagram and Twitter @colleenhoover. You can also find her on her blog at http://www.colleenhoover.com where she holds a daily book-a-day giveaway, or on her very active Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/authorcolleenhoover where she loves to give away more free stuff when her husband isn’t looking.

Colleen also wants the world to know that writing short biographies in third person is incredibly awkward.
