Equal parts Dexter and 50 Shades, this is the eagerly awaited follow-up to the daring erotic thriller, The Girl in 6E, by A.R. Torre.

My rules:

  1. Don't leave the apartment.
  2. Never let anyone in.
  3. Don't kill anyone.

The rules were simple and I broke them.
Now I must face the consequences.
Everyone else must face me.

reviewFollowing in the steps of The Girl in E6, Do Not Disturb will require a lock down!  Be prepared for a wild ride.  Alessandra has become a go to for the dark and twisted. When E6 came out it was intriguing, allowing me a different type of reading experience. Multiple character POVs and a wickedly creative storyline drive Do Not Disturb to surpass its successor.

“They say idle hands are the devil’s workshop. For me, it is not my hands, it is my mind.”

This dark and twisted world that Alessandra has created allows Deanna to hide her demon inside. One shining bright light, Jeremy, peeks through, peeling away layers, and soon Deanna will release she is worth more. The ride is wicked crazy and the best way to explain it is not to explain it.  From page one all the way to the author’s note at the end, Do Not Disturb is a Rubik’s Cube of emotions. How long till you solve the mystery?

“We don’t love people for their traits—traits are common. We love them for their unique ability to tug at our soul, to connect to us in a way that no other person can. Love is unexplainable, unpredictable, and often unreasonable. It doesn’t make sense, and doesn’t care to explain to us its thought process.”

I’ve been struggling with how to explain my feelings of this book. I’ll start by saying that Alessandra Torre is like a black widow spider. The way she weaves her web of words, you can’t help but get sucked in.  Just when you think you have it all figured out, her writing changes direction, turning the plot and twisting it, making your heart race with anticipation and hanging onto every word, killing you with suspense.

I had not read The Girl in 6E, so I was unfamiliar with Deanna and her story. That didn’t matter though. Alessandra wrote just enough of the backstory for the reader to jump right in. At times I didn’t know whether to cry, cringe or turn the air on from the hotness. I’ve never read an erotic thriller, but this one made me love the genre.

If you want to sit on the edge of your seat, not be able to stop reading, and if you’re looking for a dark and twisted read, this one if definitely for you. I really hope that there is more to come in this series. I’d love to find out more.
