He was my older brother's best friend.
He was never supposed to be mine.
I thought we would get it out of our system and move on.
One of us did.
One of us left.
Now he's back, looking at me like he wants to devour me. And all those feelings I'd turned into anger are brewing into something else, something that terrifies me.
He broke my heart last time.
This time he'll obliterate it.
“Love is beautiful, shattering, moving, haunting. Love is everything.”
This book is packed with all the words to show you this quote. Love isn’t always who you choose to share it with. Sometimes, no matter what the circumstances, love chooses you.
I love books like this one. Ones that are full of angst, forbidden love and heartache. It has been a long time since I clenched my Kindle tight, fought for two fictional characters to be together and forged through sleep to get to the end.
“The hearts I make are shattered, but whole. They’re kaleidoscopes that beam under the sun. They signify hope in love when you’ve lost it because, like love, you can look at a kaleidoscope a thousand different ways and find something new every time. Shattered or not, if you look carefully enough, you’ll find something beautiful in them, and all beautiful things are a little broken.”
The beauty of this story can’t be expressed through words. You really need to read it for yourself to grasp the depth of these characters and their story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I cried through the entire last chapter and epilogue and wish there were more. This book is a beautiful story of shattered, broken love and how sometimes defying the odds is worth the risk.
