Every once in a while, you need to get away from it all.

I was a woman on the edge, shaken and shattered after a breakup that felt like it tore my entire world apart.
My best friend, sick of watching me drown in misery and melancholy, harassed me until I agreed to go with her on a week-long wilderness retreat.

She promised days spent bonding and getting in touch with our inner bad-asses. It was supposed to be all about the two of us roughing it and making do with the bare minimum. She assured me we were going to be pushed to our limits in ways that were unimaginable. Neither one of us could have ever guessed just how right she was.

Nowhere in the glossy brochure did it say anything about the fact I was going to have to battle the insufferable but deliciously rugged and sexy trail guide instead of the elements. The brochure also forgot to mention the part that warned when you left civilization behind, there was no place to pack your inhibitions and fears.

I was told that I would be facing a week where the only thing I should expect was the unexpected. However, no one mentioned that I was going to have to fight for my life…and my heart as soon as I ventured into the unknown.

I was a pro at hiding from my feelings but when it came time to face a real threat, one that could change everything, I learned I was more of a no surrender, no retreat kind of girl.

Retreat is a standalone novel, the first in the Getaway series which centers on the hardheaded and brokenhearted Warner brothers and the women that dare to love them.
These boys are very good at putting the wild in wilderness.

Jay has created an intense, complex, and engaging storyline, that launched the Getaway Series with a bang.  After completing Retreat I was itching for more. I need my next Crownover fix like yesterday.

“You need a man who is impossible to move and takes up as much space as he possibly can in your life.”

This quote sums up every single Crownover man and Cy is no exception. Emotionally damaged yet humbling, Cy pushed Retreat into one hell of a thrill ride.  Leo was an added bonus, slowly pulling down Cy’s walls while demolishing her own.

Retreat accomplished what any author wants with the first book of a series, reader loyalty. I want the next book. I need the next book.  This engaging story had me hooked, while encompassing all that is great about Jay’s writing.  Beautiful descriptive, impeccable detail, and enchanting characters.  When I pick up a Jay Crownover book I am prepared to fall in love. This new series equals my newest love affair.

About Jay Crownover

JAY CROWNOVER Being native Coloradan is a source of pride if you ask Jay. She loves all the things her home has to offer, and that is why she set her books in this familiar place. Writing about what she knows is why her stories feature plenty of rock and roll and body modification.

Jay has been a bartender since she was in college, spending over forty hours a week watching interactions between men and women. This 9 to 5 job offered great insights into relationships – how they start and how they evolve in a social setting.

This cutting-edge author likes to write New Adult novels because she remembers being in her early twenties and thinking she had it all figured out, only to be proven wrong time and time again. When she looks back, she see’s that those years defined who she is today, and, good or bad, those decisions ultimately set her current path.
