BLOG TOUR: Rock My World by Michelle Valentine (review and book trailer)

*A Novella in the New York Times and USA Today best-selling Black Falcon series*

After Aubrey Jenson is wrongly dismissed from her job at Center Stage Marketing, she seeks legal advice from her father, The Judge, to see what grounds she has to get her position reinstated. Her surprise visit to her family doesn’t go as smoothly as she hopes when she brings home her new boyfriend, Zach, Black Falcon’s lead guitarist. She soon discovers that father doesn’t always know best when it comes to matters of the heart.
When Zach meets Aubrey’s family, he’s immediately faced with his deepest fear: The love he so desperately wants, he doesn’t deserve. The Judge makes no attempt to hide his disdain for Zach, and will stop at nothing to keep him away from his daughter. But an unexpected twist turns everyone’s plans upside down and no one’s world will ever be the same.
Outside forces attempting to pull them apart are strong and it’s going to take every bit of Zach and Aubrey’s love for one another to withstand the fall-out. Soon, they discover making love last is harder than finding it to begin with and sometimes you pay the ultimate price for true love.
***Note from author: This novella follows Riff and Aubrey’s story from ROCK MY BED.***

I JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH!!!

Zach has been my favorite guy among the BLCK FALCON. Hot damn!

The way he carries himself and the way he shows his affection to Aubrey is just so amazing! His oozing sex appeal can get the attention of anyone he likes with ease. But this man’s heart belongs to only one…Aubrey.
Aubrey decided to go home to seek legal advise from his dad on how to get her job back and just what a lovely surprise to bring Riff with her to finally introduce him to her parents. Aubrey knows exactly how this incident will turn out. “Judge” will never approve it. But she is taking that risk, in the name of love.
I admired how Aubrey fought for their love here. How she is so willing to stand for the man of her dreams, and how she ran after him because she knows she couldn’t imagine a life without him. Riff at one point may have doubted their commitment, but eventually redeemed himself at the end. The love that has been evident throughout continues right up to the end. I adore how their love can see past the masks and all the BS to who the other really is. They love the quirks and faults and weird things about each other and that’s what makes their relationship so real.
I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love with Michelle’s writing even more. But this novella proved me wrong; MICHELLE JUST SIMPLY ROCKED MY WORLD BABY!
The story was short yet it was jam packed with emotions and some unexpected scenes at the end that literally put me at the edge of my seat. What’s even more interesting is that we get a little bit of Noel and Lane at the end! Awesomesauce!
I can go on and on the whole day and describe the book in many different adjectives but it only boils down to one thing…UHHH-MA-ZING!!!

BLOG TOUR: Savor You by Emily Snow (book trailer, review, excerpt and giveaways)

Kylie Wolfe and guitarist Wyatt McRae have been bad for each other for the last several years, but it’s impossible for them to end their toxic push and pull. Not when their attraction is constantly fueled by lust and proximity—she’s her older brother’s Lucas’s assistant and Wyatt is his best friend and band mate.

So when Your Toxic Sequel makes a move to record a new album in Nashville, Kylie decides to make the latest break with Wyatt official by getting the hell out of town. She’ll spend a week in New Orleans. A week to immerse herself in the Mardi Gras scene. One week to not think about the last time she was in New Orleans, seven years ago with Wyatt. Seven days where she won’t have to see Wyatt every day just to fall ridiculously in love with him all over again—where, if she wants to, she can have a normal, no- strings attached fling that won’t end in heartbreak.
Too bad Wyatt ruins everything by showing up, as gorgeous and demanding and goddamn awful for her as ever.
Wyatt refuses to let Kylie give up on him. Not without reminding her why they both fell so far and hard in the first place. Not without making her savor the good memories and what could be their last chance with each other.
Note: This is a spinoff from the Devoured series.

Hmmm…. there is absolutely something to be said about a sexy, alpha-male rocker, or at least there is for me. Kylie Wolfe and Wyatt McCrae had tried staying apart. No matter what they said or what they tried, something always brought them back together. Kylie knew in her core that Wyatt was bad news for her and she was determined to do everything in her power to separate herself from him. She even took a spur of the moment vacation to distance herself from him. She new he was toxic for her and she wanted to move on with her life. Wyatt had other ideas. He wanted to try start over and fix the things wrong with their relationship. He was determined that no matter what the cost he would not take no for an answer.

“I fucking love you, Ky. That’s about all I need to know. We can work through all of the other shit as long as we have that”

This is a wonderful continuation of an amazing series. I love Emily Snow and all of these characters. We knew that Kylie was fun-loving with a daring attitude, and I was glad we were given the chance to get to know her on a more personal level. She’s been hurt time and time again. She loves him, but believes that he refuses to change and her heart simply can’t take another break. She will not allow herself to be devastated and disappointed by him yet another time.
Wyatt? What can I say about Wyatt? Something about that man simply oozes sex. The bad-ass rocker with groupies at every tour stop. The self-assured playboy with a heart and a soft spot for Kylie. I swooned at the fact that he knew what he wanted and wasn’t going to be swayed without giving it everything he had. He did just that, he gave it his all. He knew they had issues and was well aware that he had major issues. No matter what he did, he couldn’t get Kylie out of his head. He loved her. Unfortunately, he was out of time.
This is a story of a love that started years ago. They both tried to leave multiple times but something always brought them back to one another. They always ended up right where they started, in bed. The attraction between these two sizzles… Emily draws you in on the first page and leaves you captivated until the very last paragraph. I needed to know how this was going to end because I needed them to have their HEA. Her writing style is one that leaves you vested in her characters and words. I was only disappointed in the fact that it was so short. I really didn’t want it to end and wanted more of these two and their story. I can’t wait for the next installment in this super hot series!!

Excerpt #6:

“Lucas,” I say, trying to keep my voice calm, “why is there a huge chunk of money missing out of your business account?”

Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars isn’t just a huge chunk of money, though. It’s several years of my income, and it’s gone from an account that I’m supposed to be monitoring.

The man who answers me a few seconds later doesn’t sound like my older brother at all. He sounds broken, like a wounded animal. “It’s nothing. Mind your own fucking business, Kylie.”

The fear that has seized my chest for the last hour and a half suddenly shifts and now it feels like poison rippling through my body, wrapping around my bones and slithering through my veins. “Not on your life, Lucas. It’s Sam, isn’t it? Are you paying that bitch off again? Where’s Sienna? What the—”

I hear the faint click, and I know that I’ve lost him. I know that whatever it is my brother’s gotten himself involved with has only gotten worse since he and Sienna took off for Atlanta.

And I feel like I’m dying inside.

For several minutes, I sit silently on the bed, inhaling the faint, masculine scent Wyatt left behind. I know what I have to do. I know that I have to call Sienna to check on her, but I also know that I’m not going to like what I hear.

By the time I work up the nerve to call her, I’m crying.

“Please tell me he didn’t?” More than ever before, I want to be wrong. I want her to tell me that she’s still with Lucas, and he hasn’t kicked her out. But, I’m not wrong.

Her voice sounds like she’s a million miles away as she answers me, “Why does it matter?”

It matters because I wanted my brother to take care of her—for him to be happy. It matters because I was the one who convinced her to go along with him. I was the one who told her that taking Lucas up on his offer was all worth it.

But judging by the way Sienna sounds today, that was the only thing I was wrong about.

BLOG TOUR: Falling Into Us by Jasinda Wilder (Review, Excerpt and Giveaways)

THE STORY YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW…

When Kyle Calloway died, he took a part of Nell with him. She wasn’t the only one left to pick up the pieces, however; Kyle’s death left a gaping hole in the hearts and lives of his parents and his older brother Colton, and ultimately broke the will of the girl he loved.

THE STORY YOU NEVER IMAGINED…

Becca de Rosa is Nell’s best friend. When Kyle died, Nell was so devastated that no one could reach her, not even her best friend Becca. As she tries to help Nell through her grief, Becca’s own life is thrust into turmoil, and everything she knows is changed.

Jason Dorsey asked Nell out the week after her sixteenth birthday, but that date never happened. Instead, he ended up going out with Nell’s best friend, Becca. He had no way of knowing, then, how that one date would send him on a life-long journey with Becca. He had no way of knowing the tragedies and triumphs he would experience, or that in Becca, he might find the love of a lifetime.

THE HEARTACHE YOU’LL NEVER FORGET…

**Peeking out from under my bed** Yes. I admit that this is the first book by Jasinda Wilder that I have read. **Ducking now** I know, I know, where have I been? Trust me I’ve been wracking my brain asking myself that very question!!! I have most of her books on my Nook, but for whatever reason have never read them. Well, I am coming out from under the rock that I’ve apparently been living under and that my friends, is about to change. This book rocked my world!!! I read a lot, but this was one book I literally read from beginning to end in one day. I got so lost in Jasinda’s words that I left my heart in the pages of this book. I loved it, and can’t stop thinking about it! Falling Into Us truly touched me in way that not many others have. I seriously have a major book hangover. It’s a beautifully heartwarming story of coming of age and true love.

“I can’t promise you forever, because that’s not long enough.”
Oh my god! I can not shake this book. I can’t shake these characters. I dare you, yes, I dare you to read this and not fall in love with Jason and Becca. I dare you to read this book and not fall in love with Jasinda. Jason Dorsey and Becca de Rosa are two of the most identifiable characters that I have ever encountered. Neither of them are perfect, quite the contrary, both are flawed and somewhat broken. We meet them as they go on their first date and get to follow their amazing journey of growing up and falling in love. We are fortunate enough to witness their progression and are with them for many of their “firsts.” Jason is whoa-swoon-worthy. He’s sweet and loving, yet real and raw. (Yes please. Where in the hell are these men?) The love he has for Becca is evident on every page, and Becca flourishes with him by her side. His love is what she needs, and he loves her with every fiber of his being. Becca has insecurities, but a good head on her shoulders. She knows who Jason is, and loves him through it. Their relationship is one of compassion and understanding. They show us love in it’s truest form. These two make us believe that in an vastly imperfect world, sometimes true love can and does, conquer all.
“I knew I’d never love anyone the way that I loved Jason, and I knew I’d never try.”
Jasinda’s knack for pulling us in to their story is amazing. I was there, every word. That was my story. I had butterflies in my stomach and tears in my eyes (more then once). I cried, I laughed, I screamed, and I just down right hurt. I felt it all and I still do. Her writing style is beautifully eloquent and her words perfection. Each paragraph was succinctly laid out and each scene magnificently scripted. This was absolutely a “story I never imagined,” because I never imagined falling so head over heels in love with a book or an author. **giggle** Yup. Jasinda, I’m pretty sure I have a fan girl crush. I big red heart adore you and you’ve got a fan for life! You are AMAZING!!!!!
Now, should anyone need me I will be reading Falling Into You. Something tells me I will be rereading Falling IntoUs, and rereading them both ~ multiple times! Just sayin…

5+++ Stars
I fingered the keycard in my pocket as I sat in my truck, waiting for Becca. We’d planned this out, and now we were going through with it. My nerves were jangling, and I wondered if Becca felt the same way. I was sure she did. I had a CD player plugged into the lighter outlet and the tape deck, an old-school arrangement that I only used when I was in the mood for something specific. Today it was Johnny Cash, and currently playing was “God Is Gonna Cut You Down,” which seemed unfortunately ironic given the circumstances, but it was still a kick-ass song.
Becca came out just as the song was ending, and I clicked the radio off. She hopped into the cab and closed the door behind her, letting in a cold blast of frozen air. It was a bitterly cold day, the sky clear blue, the sun distant and watery, the air so still and so cold each breath hurt. She smiled at me, and I was struck by how beautiful she was. Her hair was loose, a white knit cap pulled low on her head, a stark contrast to her tan skin and blue-black hair. She had on a black pea coat that came to mid-thigh, and a pair of tight gray yoga pants.
“Ready?” I asked.
She gave me a small nod and reached for my hand. I twined our fingers together, hers icy from the walk from house to vehicle. “Yeah, let’s go.”
“Where’d you tell your dad we were going?”
“Great Lakes Crossing.”
“So should we go there first?”
She nodded. “Yeah. I do actually have a few things I want to get.” She gave me a cryptic smile.
When we got the mall, we strolled around for a while, chatting and browsing, but then we passed a store and Becca split away from me, telling me to meet her at the food court in half an hour. I knew she was up to something, but I went along with it, spending most of the time in the athletics store. I ended up with a new pair of cross trainers for the spring, and was waiting by Aunt Annie’s with five minutes to spare. She showed up with a wide grin on her face but no shopping bag.
“Didn’t get anything?” I asked.
She shrugged. “No, I did.”
I frowned. “What was it, then?”
She wrapped her arm around my waist, fitting herself against me. “You’ll see. You’ll like it…I hope.” When my confused look didn’t go away, she just smirked at me. “Here’s a hint: I’m wearing it.”
I started to get an inkling then. I gulped a little, wondering how I could ever have mistaken Becca for shy.
“What are you grinning about?” she asked as we drove to the hotel where I’d rented a room.
“Just that I used to think you were shy.”
She laughed. “I am shy, just not with you.”
“So…what color?”
She ducked her head, and her cheeks darkened a little. “Not telling. You’ll have to find out.”
We reached the hotel after a short drive, but we sat in the car in tense silence before getting out.
Becca wasn’t looking at me, scratching at her knee intently.
“I don’t want you to think…” I sighed and started over. “I mean, we don’t have to do this now. We can go back to the mall, or a movie. Or just home.”
She shook her head but still didn’t meet my eyes. “No, I want to. I’m just…nervous.”
I expelled a breath of relief. “Me, too, Beck. Me, too.”
“Do you think that means we’re not ready?” she asked, finally lifting her dark eyes to mine.
I shook my head. “I think we’d be nervous no matter how long we waited. I think it’d be weird if we weren’t nervous.”
She nodded. “Let’s go in. We’ll just…take it one step at a time.”
I got out and circled around to open her door while she was still unbuckling. She took my hand, cold fingers slipping neatly into my palm. Her teeth were white as she smiled at me, a private, brilliant, beautiful smile just for me. The concierge, a dour older man, gave us a hard, disapproving stare as we strolled past him to the elevators. We stood outside room 425, the keycard held in my suddenly sweating and slightly shaking hand, my eyes on hers, asking her silently if she still wanted this. She leaned into me, her arm going around my waist, low, her hand on my hipbone.
I slid the card into the lock and pulled it out, shoving the door open when the green light flashed. The room was dark, shadowed by the drawn curtains, a gleaming crack of light showing. I fumbled in the darkness, finding a switch and illuminating the room. A single bed, king-sized and enormous, took up most of the room; I’d splurged on a fairly nice hotel and an upgraded room.
I turned around from switching on the light to find Becca peeling her coat off, revealing a tight white V-neck T-shirt that clung to her curves, the “V” dipping low enough to show me a mouthwatering glimpse of her cleavage. Yoga pants, tight T-shirt? Oh, god. She noticed my gaze raking over her body and gave me a surprisingly shy smile, then turned around, posing for me. She clenched her gluteus muscles, the yoga pants clinging like a second skin to her generous hips and ass, and all I wanted to do was run my hands over her. I stifled the urge for about six seconds before remembering why we were there, alone in a hotel room on a Saturday evening.
I crossed the space between us to stand a few inches away from Becca. She started to turn around, but I stopped her with gentle hands on her shoulders. She turned her head to watch me, her chin on her shoulder. I slid my palms down her sides, feeling her breath catch as I carved my hands along the bell-curve of her hips, then slid them around to cup her backside. She released her breath, her eyes sliding shut briefly.
“I love your ass. Especially in yoga pants,” I murmured.
Her brown-black eyes flicked up to mine. “I know. That’s why I wore these. I had to kind of sneak past my father before he saw how tight they are.”
My hands explored the taut, supple curves of her ass, down her thighs, up her hips. I grew a little daring and slid my middle finger up the crease where the stretchy fabric clung between her cheeks. She gasped when I did that, so I did it again, letting my finger drive a little deeper, until she pulled away with a breathy laugh.
She stepped away from me and turned around, sliding her knit cap off her head and shaking her curls. “Sit down on the bed, Jason.” Her voice held an odd note of command, and I couldn’t help but obey.
“Don’t interrupt, and don’t laugh,” she said. “I want to do this for you, but I know I’m going to feel silly.”
“Do what?” I kicked off my ADIDAS cross trainers, and then peeled away my socks.
She tilted her head back, eyes closing, hands pushing up through her springy mass of hair. “This.” She let her hair fall and slid her hands down her waist, much as I’d done, and then crossed her hands in front of her body to grip the hem of her shirt.
I swallowed hard, and felt the blood rush out of my brain to pool in other areas of my body. Noticeably so, I was sure.
And then, oh, lord god, she glanced at me with heavy-lidded eyes, and slowly peeled her shirt upward. When she reached the underside of her breasts, she paused, drawing out the moment. She wasn’t dancing, wasn’t trying to do a striptease, she was just being…naturally sexy. Giving me a show. And oh, god, what a show. I could see her hands trembling on the hem of her shirt; I could see her knees shaking, just a little.
She tugged the shirt up farther, and the white fabric was so tight against her skin that her breasts were drawn up and pressed against her chest, only to fall free with a luxurious bounce. I hardened even further at that bounce. I stopped breathing once I registered what she was wearing. It was strapless and pink with black lace curling around the bottom edge, the cups split apart between her breasts, her tan flesh barely contained. I struggled to swallow past the lump in my throat, to breathe at all at the sight of Becca in nothing but a bra and yoga pants. She stood with her hands at her sides, taking long pulls of air, each breath swelling her breasts even larger. I couldn’t help but adjust myself, and her eyes followed my hands.
“Want to see the rest?” she asked.
I nodded. “Y-yes.”
She smirked at me. “Now who’s the one stuttering?”
“Me. God, Becca. What are you trying to do to me?” I meant it as a rhetorical question, but she answered anyway.
“I’m trying to turn you on.” She pivoted on her heel, presenting me with a fine view of her ass and her back with the slight sway inward, the strap of the bra dimpling her supple skin.
“All you have to do to turn me on is be you,” I said. “I’m turned on every time you so much as take a breath. This? What you’re doing? You’re killing me. I’m going to explode. You’re too fucking sexy for me to be able to take it.”
“Well, I’m not done yet.” She ran her hands over the curve of her backside, then hooked her thumbs in the waistband of her yoga pants. “Do you want to see the panties I got to go with it?”

BLOG TOUR: Bad Things by R.K. Lilley (review, book trailer and giveaways)

Danika hasn’t had an easy life. Being insanely attracted to bad boys has never helped make it easier.

One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given.

She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine?

For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating.

WOW! What a way to start a series! *golf claps* We first hear the names Danika and Tristan in R.K. Lilly’s Up in the Air series. Here is what we know…they had a past and that for lack of a better word it was troubled. Tristan still holds some kinds of feelings for Danika and she is literally crippled by the pain of their break. In Bad Things we are brought back to the beginning and we learn how this love affair started.

Off the bat Danika and Tristan have a connection that jumps off the page. After their first meeting they are both throw together acting the role of friends. They play this role with effortless with ease. Danika is pulled into Tristan’s world of night clubs and partying while Danika pulls him into her world as she plays homemaker. They find a balance but they never thought they would fall head over heals for each other. They saying goes that opposites attract and with these two the attraction is HOT!

R.K. yet again has produced a winner. Both Danika and Tristan take you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions (and shh…don’t tell James but I think I love Tristan more!).

“I want you so badly that I’d do just about anything to have you,” he said roughly. “The only thing I won’t do though, is risk losing you. Can you promise me that if we do this, I won’t lose you?”

They are both damaged in their own way but together they work. They relate on levels most couples dream of. The attraction is so intense that I as read the words I found myself putting the book down just to catch my breath!

“I want you to let go. I want you to submit.

I want to make you lose your mind. I want you to be so far gone that the only word left in your vocabulary is my name.”

I loved the back and forth with these two. They try to fight against what they want but the heart is powerful and sometimes you have to wave the white flag and take a chance.

“We’re going to do this nice and slow. All I want from you is your surrender. Beyond that, you don’t have to think about a thing. Understand?”

Tristan is SO alpha man I can’t take it!! I say this in the nicest way possible…if that man was real I would lick him from head to toe! *fans face* I mean really!?!?! I so want to be in R.K. Lilly’s mind! Ummmmm you Ms. Lilly are a genius!

“Danika, sweetheart?” he rasped. “Yes, Tristan?” “I’m done being sweet, if you don’t mind. I need to fuck you really hard now, if that’s okay.”

With lines like that I may never leave my house again! No joke! R.K. Lilly have proven that she can write one hell of a series with Up in the Air and Bad Things is just the icing on the cake! Intense passion, heartache, romance, sexy, funny (chickens), seductive, and sultry! Alex, I will take words to describe Bad Things for $1,000! Do yourself a favor and one click this one! You will be a R.K. Lilly fan for life!

BLOG TOUR: Watch Over Me by Tara Sivec

Addison Snow is your typical teenager. She has a family that loves her, friends that make her laugh, and she’s wrapped up in the excitement of graduating high school and going off to college to pursue her dream of becoming an author. When her mother, who also happens to be Addison’s best friend, dies unexpectedly, her world comes to a crashing halt. Death changes everyone… To make the pain go away, Addison and her father travel down separate, dark paths. She chooses to end her grief forever, while he drowns his sorrows in the bottom of a bottle. How do you learn to live again when the most important person in your life is gone? Addison struggles to pick up the pieces of her life. Instead of getting back to being the carefree teenager she once was, she’s stuck handling all of the responsibilities that should have been her father’s. She has no time to grieve, no time for emotions, and no time for happiness…until Zander Reinhardt walks in. All it takes is one little handwritten note on a napkin to kick-start her back to life and help her realize that maybe there’s more to that life than pain. But can it really be that simple? Can she really trust this man who makes her feel alive again for the first time in a year? Addison and Zander both have secrets they aren’t ready to share. When the truth finally comes out, is it enough to tear them apart or has something bigger than themselves always been watching over them, pushing them together, making sure they both get their happily ever after?

I feel in love with Tara’s comic timing and quick wit in The Chocolate Series!  Tara has a way with words and in person she is 100% better then you can imagine and when I found out she was tackling an issues so personal to her I knew this read would prove to be her best yet.  The book starts with two words…For Mom.  With these two words I knew that this book would touch my heart.  Our family and friends create the person we become and when we lose them we lose a piece of ourselves.  Dealing with this loss is a pain like no other and all we can do is pick up those pieces, honor their memory, and create new pieces that will keep you whole while never losing what was so special about them.

Watch Over Me is a remarkable story.  Tara has proven that even in life’s darkest moments when you feel all hope is lost someone is watching over you.  Even in death we never lose the ones we love.  I remember when I lost my cousin while he working as a State Highway Portal Man.  This event rocked my family.  What I found amazing was even with the number of people at the wake reaching 5,000 my aunt was able to meet and great every last person and did it with a smile.  She told me that he will always be with her and with all of us.  I didn’t understand that at the time.  I couldn’t understand how you could find hope within the pain.  After reading this book I understand why she was able to smile and honor the man her son was.
Addison found herself at the end of the line and reaching for anything that could give her hope.  She lost one parent and the other one is has lost himself.  While working to keep her mother’s dream alive Addison sees that Zander maybe that hope.  Proving that the simple things in life like napkins and children’s toys can rebuild what was lost, Zander finds the opening in Addison’s heart.  Addison difficult journey is one that she tries to walk alone bu with all his good intentions can Zander push through Addison’s walls?
Bravo Tara!  This book is a must read for anyone dealing with the death of a loved one.  The emotions in this book are real and raw.  Through Tara’s words you can feel the pain, joy, hope, and sadness just as Addison does.  This book not only entertains but heals.  Watch Over Me is a book that stands alone and will hold its importance in the years to come.   Happy endings are not always traveled to by a straight line.  The road can twist and turn and sometime stop all together but you have to keep going and seeing Addison’s journey lets the reader know that even in your darkest hour there is always someone to watch over you.  Thank you Tara for showing us that real can be beautiful.  5 STARS!

BOOK REVIEW: Delayed Penalty by Shey Stahl

A minor penalty that is not called until the offending team gains control of the puck. As long as the non-offending team maintains possession, the referee allows play to continue and signals a delayed penalty by raising his arm.

I’m Evan Mason, an NHL hockey player for the Chicago Blackhawks. I spend my nights roughing up two hundred pound defensemen and, at times, spend more time in the penalty box than I do on the ice.
That’s my job.
One night changed everything I thought I once knew about my life on, and off, the ice.
A girl.
A brutally beaten girl left to die in an alley.
I don’t know why or how but something made me stay that night after taking her to the hospital. I didn’t know her, nor did I have an obligation to stay but something inside of me rooted me there telling me I should stay. Saving a life is worth something. At least I thought so. And I wouldn’t have been me if I just simply left her there.
Any man who put his heart and soul into a game of hockey couldn’t just walk away when someone needed them. She had no one else right now. The same guy who saw determination where there was desire, now saw hope where there was once despair.
I couldn’t leave. That wouldn’t be me. No, not a man that put all he had into something some called just a game. I couldn’t walk away from her holding onto life, weak and powerless to something she had no control over.
So I stayed. In a room full of family members praying for their loved ones to pull through, I prayed for a girl I didn’t know and had never met before, to have a beating heart. While others’ sorrows turned to grieving pain, I sat waiting on the words of the unknown.
No bond is stronger than the ones you’ll bleed for.

FIVE SUPER STARS!

I loved, LOVED this book! There is something about athletes in books that just make me swoon. Shey Stahl’s writing is amazing! I am not very familiar with hockey but I feel like I know so much about it after reading this book.

Evan Mason is an NHL Defenseman who was walking to his place one night after a hanging out with his hockey player friends. He felt something pull him towards an alley and there he finds a girl who was badly beaten and left almost to die. He brings her to the hospital and from there, he could not leave her. This story is full of heart, angst, and funny moments. I was laughing one minute, angry another minute, and crying at another second. I felt a wide array of emotions while reading this book because of how Ms. Stahl delivers the story in such a wonderful way.

The story is told on both POV and as a reader, I was able to get into the minds of the characters. Evan is a mature 21 y.o. and Ami is young at 18 but the tragic experiences that she has suffered has made her tough in life. The characters are relatable and the secondary characters have so much personalities that I am looking forward to the next books in the Crossing the Line Series.
The cover is very appropriate for the story. I believe that the guy in the cover is Evan Mason – he is young, hot, and blue-eyed. And in his eyes, you can see his determination and principles that he stood for all throughout the book. I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for more!

BLOG TOUR: Jet by Jay Crownover (Review and Giveaways)

Title: Jet (A Marked Men Novel #2)
Author:  Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:  May 28, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Literature Lovers   http://literatiliteraturelovers.com

With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes. She’s afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

Note:  UK and Australia:  Jet’s release date has been moved to June 20th.

JET. Where do I start with this book?

Ahh-ma-zing! Let me start of by saying that Jet will be put into my list of book boyfriends. Now that’s out of the way, I’d like to give you something substantial here. After all, I am writing a review.
The cover is not your typical book-rocker cover. And, I think this is one of the best features of the book. It shows you that Jet can connect to you on a realistic level – that rockers are not all hard abs and muscles (though there’s nothing wrong about them). He’s a guy who loves rock and he “rolls” with his band. There are many facets to Jet’s personality and I think Ms. Crownover is adept at making the readers connect to him. He is deep and troubled but he’s also a very nice guy. He’s a bad boy but he has a lot of heart. The juxtaposition of his many sides makes him such a complex character to read about and I had fun discovering what makes him tick. And Ayden, the Southern belle with the mile-long legs, makes Jet tick and twist in all the good and bad places.
Ayden’s a very interesting girl. She has a secret that she’s trying to run away from. Her past is something that she’d like to forget. But, in order for her to have any type of future with Jet, she has to face her demons and open up to him about them. She’s a very strong girl and such a great heroine. I loved her character so much! I always like strong and capable women in my books and Ayden is one hell of a girl. She is caught between her feelings for Jet and her indecisiveness to let him know about her past. And when she finally does tell him, Jet reacts in a way that the readers would not expect and the story unfolds into another twist and you cannot help but want to read the book in one sitting.

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot. The author did such a great job in keeping the readers in suspense. There were steamy scenes and there was a lot of sexual tension in the book. There were lots of funny moments too that made me fall off the chair and cry in tears (of joy). The storyline is distinct, unique, and has the author’s special way of writing stamped all over it. I think the author’s writing is flawless and exceptional. I’ve highlighted a lot of quotes in this book, just like I did in Rule.

I look forward to reading more and more of Jay Crownover’s books. Her Marked Men Series has the makings of a great and unforgettable series and I’m super stoked to learn that she is now writing full-time because honestly, seriously, unequivocally, I cannot wait for Rome’s story next.

5+++++Stars. Not enough stars for this!!!!

Jay Crownover is the bestselling author of Rule. Like the characters in her Marked Men series, she is a big fan of tattoos. She loves music and wishes she could be a rock star, but since she has no aptitude for singing or instrument playing, she’ll settle for writing stories with interesting characters and that make the reader feel something. She lives in Colorado with her three dogs.

BOOK REVIEW: Eyes Wide Open by Raine Miller (Plus our Top 10 Best Moments of Ethan & Brynne)

May 14th, 2013

The third part in The Blackstone Affair series: A love on the brink of being destroyed. The fight of a lifetime to keep it alive.

Big surprises are on the horizon for Ethan and Brynne as they struggle to adjust to what life has thrown at them. Demons from the past are threatening to destroy the passionate bond they’ve forged despite their vow that nothing will ever keep them apart. A truly devastating loss coupled with the promise of a new hope opens their eyes to what is most important, but is it possible for the lovers to move on from the painful histories that continue to haunt them? A stalker is still lurking in the shadows, plotting evil amidst the distraction of the 2012 Olympic games in London. Brynne and Ethan are on the cusp of losing everything as the stakes rise. Will they yield to circumstances beyond their control or will they give every ounce of fight they have left to save each other and win the ultimate prize of a life together?

Eyes Wide Open is a passion-wrought story that shows us what pure love can achieve when tested and what the heart can accomplish despite danger and adversity.

Holy hotness!! Eyes Wide Open now tops my list of all time favorite reads. That. Is. All.
Ethan Blackstone is the James Dean of book boyfriends. Yes, that’s right, the James Dean of book boyfriends. Riane Miller is a genius and has done a phenomenal job taking all the qualities a woman could ever want in a man and multiplying them to the tenth degree. The alpha male with a soft side, the sex god with a heart? My insides are laying in a puddle at my feet!!! This book took over my life and I now have a new hobby… I now spend my time looking for my “Ethan.” Every song I hear makes me think of him and all books I read find me comparing the male character to the “man of my dreams.” My life will never be the same. Who doesn’t want Ethan to bury himself in her and get lost inside of them? I’m fairly certain I am not the only woman out there in dire need of a panty change after this book!!!
It’s true. This book rocked my world. The first two books impeccably laid out the characters of Brynne and Ethan causing us to become vested in their story. They became familiar, people we
desperately cared about. We knew them, we related and we wanted them to succeed. Neither was perfect, but yet they were so perfect for each other. Eyes Wide Open took already adored characters and gave them so many new elements and layers. It tied up all the loose ends perfectly and gave us the the missing pieces in understanding the rawness that made them so real. It picked up right where the last book left off and left us sitting on the edge of our seats. Now throw in some amazing curve balls, and it was a roller coaster of emotions. This was an intensely erotic love story, full of passion, angst, and beautifully tender moments. The love these two have for one another can not be surpassed, it can’t be swayed or broken. They learned not only to trust each other, but to trust themselves in the process. Their love opened their eyes to a future of endless possibilities. Their eyes are now wide open.
Riane Miller has a true gift of pen to paper. Her words perfectly portrayed an amazing love story of two people, each with a past and each with demons, but showed us that sometimes true love really can conquer all. Sometimes love is enough. I can not wait to read the next installment of The Blackstone Affair. The possibilities of what will happen next has my insides all a flutter.
Take a number girls because I am first in line to volunteer to be Ethan’s “Beautiful American Girl.”
Uhm… Yes please! **SWOON** 5 SHINING STARS
Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it’s a safe bet she’ll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine’s stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.

When leaving is the only option you have been given, how could you make him understand?

It wasn’t an easy choice for Maddie. She never wanted to hurt MJ but leaving is the only sane choice left to protect him from getting hurt and from him knowing the truth.

She knows she could never turn back the pages of time. She couldn’t change the past. She knows she couldn’t be with him without her telling him the secrets that were not meant to be discovered. But those same secrets have start weighing heavily upon her.

It was never a secret how much I love this series. I have always been a fan of Kelli Maine’s writing from Taken, No Take Backs until this third installment, Taken by Storm. I have waited so long for this book and I would have to say that Kelli did not disappoint. It was all worth the wait. Kelli Maine’s ability to get me into the head of her characters is phenomenal. It is an incredible story that kept me on the edge of my seat at every moment. This book kept me reading until I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I had to get to the end. I love this kind of mystic story and fell right into it, and enjoyed it very much. I found myself being drawn into the story and anxiously awaiting to see what next revelation was going to unfold for MJ and Maddie. This story had its scary moments, but so much more was involved, there was the unique blend of romance and love, and what one does for love. When I thought I had the mystery figured out, Kelli managed to throw me off with another unexpected turn of events! If you are looking for a story that is full of intrigue, then you will want to get this now!

BLOG TOUR: Don’t Hate The Player…Hate The Game by Katie Ashley Review and Giveaways

Title: Don’t Hate the Player
Author: Katie Ashley
Genre: Young Adult
Publication Date: April 30, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Literature Lovers

For Noah Sullivan being the best friend to a douchebag and player like Jake Nelson has never been easy. It’s been a rocky road since kindergarten when Jake duct taped Noah to his chair before recess. With just six weeks to high school graduation, Jake accidentally blows his drunken ass up on his grandfather’s tractor, and Noah finds himself immersed not only in a whirlwind of grief, but on a quest to find a mystery girl from Jake’s past.

While cleaning out Jake’s room, Noah and Jake’s dad make a startling discovery. Instead of the obligatory porn collection or pot stash, they find a ring, but not just any ring. Its half a carat of commitment in a platinum setting-proving even man whores have taste. After Jake’s mom pleads with Noah to find the girl who meant so much to Jake, Noah begins a modern day Grail quest to track the girl down.

Since Jake was a notorious player with a legendary collection of trophy panties, Noah finds himself in over his head. There are the usual suspects like Avery, the Ice Princess Jake dated for appearances, or Presley, the school mattress Jake dated for convenience. But the trail begins to point to the most unlikely of suspects: Maddie, the Valedictorian and choir girl who was trying to help the unmotivated jock graduate–the girl who also has surprisingly caught Noah’s eye and meddled with his heart.

Hanging out with Maddie shows Noah a different side of Jake–one that was deeply human and surprisingly douche-free. And the more he tries to solve the mystery of the ring and of Jake, the more Noah starts to discover about himself and of love.

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN!!!

It is never easy to write a book that captures the essence of every single emotion. To talk about love and friendship and everything that takes place in between is never something that can be done without wrenching the way you feel about them. I have always admired authors who can manage to do this  because it takes a lot out of them to dig in and generate stories that resonate long after you have finished the book. This is what Katie Ashley does best!
The story begins kinda slow that it lets you see how things got to where they did. But once that is shaken off, the book somersaults into various kinds of emotions and that is where the narrative is the strongest. The story speaks a lot of language…love, loss, forgiveness, grief, friendship, family, fears and taking chances…
What is even more interesting is how Katie manages to stick her story inside all of these and make each and every character stand out. The writing is dynamic, with a lot happening on almost every page that made me spent almost overnight reading…savor every word page by page and moment by moment.
“As I stood there trying desperately to steady myself, a realization washed over me. This time I

didn’t bother fighting the bile rising in my throat. Instead, I heaved the entire contents of the

cafeteria’s shitty lunch onto the emerald grass. Over and over again, I threw up as if I were trying

to purge myself of the dark feelings overtaking me.

Jake is dead.

My best friend is dead.”

This gripping story will literally make you cry in places but makes up for it with its comical parts.

“I want you to find the girl who this ring belongs to. Even though Jake didn’t get the chance to give

it to her, I want her to have it.”

I stopped myself from blurting, “Are you insane, Mrs. Nelson? I know you loved your little boy, but

he was a major panty chasing manwhore! I’d have better luck finding all the girls he deflowered or

potentially gave an STD to than the one girl he might actually have had feelings for!”

I also loved how the relationship among the characters especially Noah and his Mom was strongly conveyed in the story. The challenges of being a single parent, the changes that was about to happen in their lives and how they were able to cope with it gave this story added depth and interesting facet.

“Noah, I know that things are about to change, and our lives will never be the same. For almost

eighteen years it’s been just you and me.”

“Yeah, it has.”

When Mom took my hand in hers, I braced myself. She was about to lay some serious shit on me.

“I just want you to know that I’ve thanked God every day for giving me you. Even though you
weren’t planned and the situation was hard, I wouldn’t trade any of it for a second. You’ve been
the greatest accomplishment of my life.”

I thought the romance between Noah and Maddie was realistically and movingly handled. It was simple yet captivating. You can feel the chill, the pain, the awe as Noah finally admits to Maddie about the secret and his mission to find the girl who owns the ring, and how he was able to finally confess his true feelings for her. And it’s these set of emotions that keep the drama going and made my heart pulsating.

“There’s something else I need to say—something I should have said to you yesterday an even

weeks before that.” Gently, I traced my thumb over her cheekbone. “Madelyn Elizabeth Parker, I

am truly, madly, and deeply in love with you.”

I’ve been in love with you since the day I saw you after Jake died. You appeared to me like an

angel, and in a way, you have been my angel. You are so beautiful sometimes that it stuns me, and

it leaves me speechless. When you smile that smile that spreads across your face and brings out

your dimples, it makes my heart melt.” I leaned in closer to where my breath brushed against her
cheek. “You’ve been my beacon of light in my storm of grief, and I don’t know if I could live without
you.”

Katie doesn’t only write books. She tells stories that impart valuable life lessons, bring us hope, lift our spirits, and make us smile.

A must read for all. I totally recommend this one wholeheartedly.
