Blog Tour: Ember’s Curse by Gena Lutz (never before seen preface & giveaway)

Synopsis:

For Prime-Werewolf Ember Stilwell, life has been far from normal. Decades ago, a vengeful Witch cursed her Pack, leaving the women of her line incapable of feeling love. When an organized group of immortal killers begin to stalk and capture wolves from her pack, she sets out on a path fraught with danger. Just when it seems the world as she knows it will be changed forever, she meets Collin, an Alpha Werewolf with a body built for sin. As her heart begins to heal, she comes to find that the demons of her past are not nearly as dangerous as the nightmares she will be forced to face in her future. Can finding her true love conquer all? Or will the ability to feel for the first time be overshadowed by losing everything else she holds dear?

NEVER BEFORE SEEN PREFACE:

“The beginning of the Primal pack came into existence quite by accident. Some might even call it a culmination of bad luck and fate. If it weren’t for the dark witch, Alexandra, and her hatred for a beautiful vampire, this story would have never had a chance to be written. This love triangle was doomed from the very start. A raven haired vampire named Naomi and a seductive and cunning witch both fell deeply in love with the devilishly handsome Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack. Both women had a chance to win his heart but in the end Landon saw past Alexandra’s bewitching beauty. He recognized the evil that lurked inside the dark witch. He noticed the way birds would go silent in her presence and pondered on the reason why children shivered in fear at her slightest touch. Within the vampires eyes he found his true hearts mate. Her kindness was beyond measure and her generosity knew no bounds. He cherished the way that the same children who feared Alexandra found comfort in Naomi’s arms. The birds that wouldn’t make even the smallest peep for the witch would ever so joyously serenade the vampire all during her afternoon hunts. One night when the moon was at it’s fullest, Landon – in front of his entire pack – announced his intentions for Naomi. They would be mated that evening and would rule side by side for the rest of their days. The surprising news left Alexandra furious and with a deep thirst for vengeance. That same night she waited for the last of the wolves to disappear into the woods before she slunk away to her cave to mix up her revenge. The romantic candle light that filtered through the shutters as she snuck up to the lovers cottage fueled her rage but the moans of lust that rang throughout the night was her true undoing. Now more than ever she was determined to cast the evil spell she had just brewed. So behind the cover of Landon’s home she quickly stripped her body of clothes and smeared her breasts and abdomen with a mixture of human blood and wolfsbane. She then began to encircled herself with sea salt. And after her circle was complete she began to chant the spell that would change all their lives forever. But as strong as her witchy powers were Alexandra was still very young. Her spell casting was amateur at best and the results of her spell didn’t work out exactly as she had intended. The curse didn’t attach itself to the young lovers that lay wrapped in each others arms unscathed in it’s aftermath. But instead laid claim to the innocent unborn child that was miraculously thriving in the once barren vampires womb. Landon never abandoned his true love for the spiteful witch and when all was said and done the couple lived a very long and happy life. Now their daughter Brianna’s fate on the other hand happened to be a different story. Her life from the beginning was anything but normal. From her father she received the gift of shifting. It amazed the pack at how swiftly she shifted, much more quickly than any other wolf. From her mother she inherited incredible speed and strength. Not a single wolf could match her endurance. From the witches curse she received the gift of a cold heart. It wasn’t that she was unkind to her parents and her pack…actually it was the very opposite, she loved them deeply. Her coldness was directed at any would be suitors. It seemed that no man be they wolf, vampire, witch, or human could interest Brianna at all. Many years past and even more men tried to woo her but still not even an ounce of attraction to a man or even a woman, for that matter, was to be had. Then one day a lone wolf wandered into the Primal packs territory. He was apprehended at once and brought before the Alphas. The wolf stood tall and unafraid. No downcast eyes no cowering or trembling limbs in the presence of his captors. It was evident that he was a very powerful Alpha wolf. Landon took offense by the lone wolfs trespass on his land and also by the intruders lack of respect for his authority. The Primal Alpha had always been known for his kindness and where any other leader of wolves would have put the offender to a swift death, Landon decided to show lenience instead. So as he did thirty years prior he called his entire pack together under the full moon and announced the mating of his daughter to the newest pack member, Darius. Brianna had decided long ago that she was never to marry and was appalled at her fathers decree. So she had decided to flee from their village and live her life free of domineering men. But as she was about to shift for a fast getaway three wolves dragged the man who was to be her betrothed out from one of the cottages and threw him before her father. His long red hair shimmered in the moonlight like glass. His full lips glistened and she licked her lips at the sight of them. She sucked in her breath without letting a single bit of air out as desire swarmed her like a million wasps stinging her entire body at once. She took a few steps his way without thought and let out a loud gasp. At the sound of Brianna’s desire Darius picked himself up and turned her way. His wolf howled through his human lips and his green eyes dilated fully as he drank in the sight of his true hearts mate. After that night Brianna’s cold heart was thawed and she to was able to live a happy life and bare many of her and Darius’ children. But unfortunately in their female offspring the curse continued. The male and female cubs both inherited their mothers strength and speed. But it was the women from the Primal Alpha line that would never feel attraction or find love until they somehow found their true hearts mate. And throughout the centuries the Primal Alpha women began to scatter all around the world. A group of them forming an extension of their original pack. They called themselves Prime Breed. A large majority of the lines Alpha females died out over the centuries, because of their inability to mate, and so the men of the pack gradually took over. And so,except for a small few, the original Primal line was all but extinct. Until fate yet again deemed to step in and have it’s final say. “

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR:

We had the honor of chatting with Angel Steel and her writing and her upcoming book Sweet Temptations.  Here is what she had to say

1. So Angel first I would like to say congratulations on your first book! So your dreams are coming true and people will be able to read your words. Can you give us a little insight as to why you wanted to write?

Thank you. Nice to meet you too, Pam. I started writing at a young age, anything that popped in my head, that sounded good me at the time I’d write it down, but it never came out the right way I wanted when I was youngJ. My mother told me when I was young that I had a great imagination, even now I think she would still say the same only that it’s a wicked imagination that I have now. I’ve always wanted to write, but over the years I never really got the change to do just that. I’ve always wanted to write and put my point of view out there. And now that I have done just that, I don’t see me giving it up any time soon.

2. What authors have influenced you and can you give us your top 5 books?

The author’s that have influenced me would be E.L. James, Melissa Schroeder, Jaymie Holland, Emma Holly, Cat Johnson and Bianca Sommerland. Love these author’s and how they write. As to my top 5 books which is really hard to pick,

1. The Dartmouth cobras’ series by Bianca Sommerland.

2. Fifty shades of grey trilogy by E.L. James

3. Gabriel’s inferno & rapture by Sylvain Reynard

4. Undeniable series by Madeline Sheehan

5. Stiletto’s INC series by Lexi Ryan

3. As you started Sweet Temptations did you know that you want write a series?

Not at first. It was only going to be 2 in this series, as I progressed in the story; I knew I had to add one more to the series. When I chose my main characters I wanted them to tell their own story, it was hard to decide which two main characters I wanted to start with. It took me a while to decide, and I fought back and forth between Nate and Skylar’s story and Dominic and Chantal’s. Although Chantal and Dominic met before Skylar moved, I wanted to tell her story first.

4. I adore Nate but I really wanted to throw my laptop when I read certain parts of this book. Is there a “Nate” in your life?

Lol. I nearly did the same when I wrote it. I wanted him to be like that, and many of my betas said they wanted to do the same. Yes, I very much have my own ‘Nate’ in my life, not completely like him; they might have the mood swing thing in common, lol. I met my “Nate’ 14 years ago, and wouldn’t change it for anything in this world, he’s my rock, my world, everything. There is nothing I would change in the last 14 years, besides I should have started writing earlier with this series, then I did. I want to thank him, for giving me 4 beautiful children that I treasure with my heart and soul, and also for the amazing 14 years that I have known and been with him, Love you, baby.

5. Skylar has been through some deep and very emotional events in her life. Without giving a lot away I have to ask with all the events that happened in her life why did you write her as such a sexual character?

Yes she has. I didn’t want her to become reclusive with what had happened to her, as most people would have done just that. I know someone that has gone through something similar to what Skylar has; I didn’t want her to close off to the world, I wanted her to have a back bone, be her own person and not let the events that happened in her past and present ruin her future. I didn’t want her to close herself away from the world, and wouldn’t let it run her life, she wants to get over the events and move forward although she did think about the events once or twice. She wanted someone to show her how to love and feel secure with everything and in herself.

6. I love the connection between Sky, Chantal and Craig. Did you draw from your own friendship to write theirs?

Yes I did. I had a relationship like those three when I was younger. We called ourselves the ‘Three stooges’ did everything together, like they have. I’ve lost contact with them over the years, but I didn’t my characters to do that. I have one very special friend now that has helped me write our friendship into this story.

7. How many books do you expect in this series and will Sky and Nate’s story in book two as I am guessing that Dominic will donate book two and beyond?

3 will be in this series. Nate and Skylar’s story continues in book 2 not as much as the first and the beginning of Dominic’s and Chantal’s story. And all will end in the third with the new characters. All characters have parts in each book.

8. Will Craig and Alex be getting their own book?

Unsure, at this point. I really want to concentrate on the three in the series first before I think about writing their story.

9. Do you think you will write the back story of Lucas and Skylar?

Yes I will, eventually, lol. I want everyone to read their story, so they understand more with what Skylar went through in her past relationship with Lucas.

10. Can you leave our readers with one sentence that will make them want to read this book?

This story is about multiple life situations that everyday people go through, such as drama, romance, really hot sex, Jand will capture your attention straight from the beginning right to the end, leaving you wanting to know more?

Once again thank you Angel and we at The Book Avenue wish you the best of luck with you book and every book to come!

Blog Tour Fight With Me ~ review, sit-down with Kristen, trailer, and giveaway

CRIS & PAM’S REVIEW:

Well I couldn’t help but do it to her! I knew she would think I was crazy but I will try anything…

Cris – You brought me to a Tattoo and Piercing Parlor??? I’m not getting pierced!!!

Pam – Chill out chica!! I have a plan! Remember when you told me about that book. You know that one with the MAJOR hot guy!

Cris – Sure do! Fight With Me by Kristen Proby. It is a follow up to Come Away With Me and the second book in With Me Seattle series. Here goes the synopsis…

“Jules Montgomery is too busy and content with her life to worry about a man, especially one Nate McKenna. If growing up with four brothers has taught her anything, she knows to stay away from sexy men with tattoos and motorcycles. That goes double if he’s your boss. During the one incredible night they shared, he violated the no fraternization policy…among other things, and it won’t happen again. Jules won’t risk her career for mind-blowing sex, no matter how much her body and her damn heart keep arguing with her.

Nate McKenna could give a shit about the no fraternizing policy. He wants Jules and he’ll have her. The rules could bend around them, or be damned. He’s not a man to be taken lightly, and Jules Montgomery is about to find out just how he responds to being pushed aside after the best night of sex he’s ever had. She can fight all she wants, but he’ll have her in his bed in the end.”

Cris – Ok Pam but what does that have to do with you dragging me to a Tattoo and Piercing Parlor.

Pam – Well I read the book.

Cris – And…so did I. I told you! It was HOT! It is on the top of my book list! Nate McKenna is one of my all-time book boyfriends! A man that every woman wants!! (Thank you Kristen Proby for an ARC of this book! It made my morning after having a bad day!)

Pam – That’s why we are here don’t you see? Tattoo and piercings works for Jules so maybe if we hang around I can find me a man and then maybe I can get something pierced!?!?!

Cris – Ok I get where you want to relate to the book. I loved Jules since the first book, Come Away With Me. She’s real, fun, confident, independent…no pretensions. She follows her heart, says anything she wants to say and doesn’t really give a fuck of what other people will think or say. Having said that I love ya girl but your no Jules and I am sure Nate is NOT running around here.

Pam – I get I am not Jules! Now Nate definitely took me by surprise! He posts as a very professional and intelligent guy, but when you get to know him better, you’ll find out that there’s more to him. He’s over the top sweet, likes to cook, very protective and he definitely knows what he wants and is willing to do everything to get it! Isn’t he dreamy? Can you fault a girl for hoping? I’m not in a total dream world! Kristen had to have some truth in her story and maybe I can find some of that here!

Cris -Couldn’t agree more! Everybody knows I’m a fan of Kristen’s writing. She has a clear take on how to describe scenes in detail especially the steamy ones which would require an intricate narration. Her characters are always 99% believable and readers can easily relate to them. Saying that I really don’t think that she meant for her readers to stock local tattoo shop!

Pam -I get it! She wrote a book that grabbed my attention from the prologue and held it until the end. Jules and Nate’s chemistry is fascinating! There were moments when I caught myself smiling, laughing, crying, biting my lips and swooning! So I say again, can you fault me for wanting to try???

Cris – I guess not. I loved all the characters, from the main ones up to the supporting ones especially the whole Montgomery clan. I loved the ending; I loved every freaking thing about that book! Ok so maybe you’re not all that crazy now that I think about it! The one thing that every author wants to do is have the reader relate to their words. Now maybe Kristen didn’t think some crazy girl like you would get tatted up but I get ya!

Pam – Exactly! Now what to get pierced? Any input?

Cris – What! Your really going to do it? What are you getting?

Pam – That’s only for me and future Nate look alike to know!

Cris & Pam’s Rating:

SIT-DOWN WITH KRISTEN PROBY

The Book Avenue Review had the honor of “sitting down” with Kristen Proby to get down and dirty about what she gets down and dirty about…her books. As the world is welcoming her book Fight With Me and patiently waiting for the next in the “With Me In Seattle” series we at The Book Avenue Review just had to dig deep into that hot and steamy head of hers! Here is what she had to say…

The Book Avenue Review ~ Does the Pacific North West inspire your writing and where else have you lived? (Submitted by Carole Ronneberg)

Kristen Proby~ Hi Carole! Yes, the PNW is beautiful, fun and I love it here. It does inspire the setting of the With Me In Seattle Series. I grew up in a small town called Whitefish, Montana, and also lived for about eight years in Portland, Oregon.

The Book Avenue Review ~ What would make your top 5 book list? (Submitted by Michelina Di Campo)

Kristen Proby ~ This is a tough question, Michelina! Hmm… Okay, I’m going to narrow this down to the past year because if it were of all time, I’d have to list far more than five.

1. On Dublin Street by Samantha Young

2. Fifty Shades Darker by EL James

3. Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

4. Taken by Kelli Maine

5. Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec

There are SO MANY books on my TBR list! I don’t read nearly as much as I used
to.

The Book Avenue Review ~ After the “With Me In Seattle” series is done what’s next? Are you planning a different direction such as Tara Sivec did with “A Beautiful Lie”? (Submitted by Sandy Roman Borrero)

Kristen Proby ~ I’m not sure what’s coming after WMIS. I still have five books to write for this series! I’ve been tossing around the idea of writing about rock stars, or maybe another family saga set in Montana, but that’s all up in the air. I’m completely submerged in the Montgomery family!

The Book Avenue Review ~ Do you use personal experiences for your sex scenes? Do you try the fun stuff (motorcycle…)? (Submitted by Kristen Teaff)

Kristen Proby ~ Ha! Well, I don’t think it would be appropriate to go into detail on this. I think as a writer, there are certain aspects of my personal life that bleed into the story. That’s inevitable. But I have a pretty active imagination.
The Book Avenue Review ~ What was the inspiration for the characters, such as Luke and Natalie, in the “With Me In Seattle” series? Did you build off real people or were they totally fictional? (Submitted by Michelle McDonald Cammack)

Kristen Proby ~ All of the characters in this series are fictional. I have a whole bunch o’ people, who aren’t real, running around in my head.

Since the sex is so hot did you find it hard to focus on the relationship between any of the characters when a lot of the story was based on the sex?

I think that the sex enhances the relationships. In most cases, as far as I know, when people are falling in love, they have a lot of sex. Don’t they? They are learning each other, inside and out, and I hope I weave the sex in so that it compliments their story.

The Book Avenue Review ~ What point of view will the rest of the “With Me In Seattle”? The male or female characters or will it alternate? (Cassie Fillmore)

Kristen Proby ~ I’m sure you’ve noticed that each of the epilogues in all three stories have been from the hero’s POV. I will continue that trend through the series. In future books, I may throw in a chapter here and there from the hero’s POV if I feel that we need to see what the heck he’s thinking, but the majority of the story will be from the heroine’s POV.

The Book Avenue Review ~ Do the covers reflect what your envisioned the characters to be or do you just go with what you like? Do you have a clear cut view of them in your head as you write? (Submitted by Clista Seals)

Kristen Proby ~ Aren’t my covers beautiful? I want the covers to convey the feel of the book. Unfortunately, we are limited in the photos available to use, and so I just find what I like the best and hire a cover artist to enhance it to make it special to my book. For the FIGHT WITH ME cover, Nate has short hair, but as you know, in the story his hair is long. Unfortunately, I didn’t have an option to use a photo with a long haired man, so I went with a photo that best conveyed the feel of the story, and I love the intimate feel of that cover.

Yes, I have a clear picture in my head of the characters as I write. I see what they’re wearing, the expressions of their faces, what the room looks like that they’re in. It’s very vivid in my head, and I hope I show that on the page as well.

The Book Avenue Review ~ Growing up did you always know you wanted to write? Who inspired you? (Submitted by Tess Halim)

Kristen Proby ~ Yes, I’ve always been a writer. I don’t remember a time that I wasn’t making up stories. I became passionate about writing in high school, thanks to an amazing English teacher.

The Book Avenue Review ~ Who would you love to see play Nate and Jules on the big screen? (Submitted by Tess Halim)

Kristen Proby ~ Wow, I haven’t even given this a thought because it just seems crazy to me. Um, I don’t know. I still have a hard time finding photos of men online that do Nate justice. He’s so fabulous in my head. I haven’t found an actor that looks like him yet.

The Book Avenue Review ~ Would you let your kids read your books? (Submitted by Tess Halim)

Kristen Proby ~ Absolutely NOT!

Thanks, everyone for your questions! And thank you, Cris and Pam, for hosting me today! I hope you all enjoy the book.

 Happy Reading!

Now that we have learned a little bit more about Kristen and the “With Me In Seattle” series I think it is safe to say that we will be waiting with bated breath for the next book “Play With Me”. We don’t know about you but if it is anything like the first two make room in your schedule for an uninterrupted date with Meg and Will. ~Happy reading
