Hush is the haunting conclusion to the Black Lotus Series, the final installment in the dark and twisted evolution of characters that left readers reeling and contorted. A story so diseased and wrangled, it left many shaking their heads. The roller coaster ride of emotions and feelings these books evoked were indiscernible at times. We were forced to question our views of normality versus depravity. We were forced to question the way we process right and wrong. From the darkness riddled with betrayal and deceit, an unconventional love story emerges. An intimacy not only ensues between the characters on the pages, but an intimacy materializes between the reader and the story as well. While this was not my favorite of the series, it was an unforgettable conclusion. Hush takes all the shattered pieces we were left with and leaves a beautiful narrative in its wake. This is a journey I’m sad to see end, and these are books I will no doubt read again. These novels will leave an indelible mark on your soul.
Life isn’t always a fairytale, yet depending on your interpretation of happily ever after, it just may be. The very definition of the word fairytale is a children’s story about magical and imaginary beings and lands, but if one reads further in the dictionary you will also find it defined as a fabricated story, especially one intended to deceive.
