Some days they’re enemies. Other days they’re lovers. For a while, they were strangers. But now, it feels more like they might have always been soulmates.
Eventually, Ry and Bowe realize that letting go of an old dream and creating a new one is much easier to do with the right person by your side.

The Fortunate Son is a coming home of sorts. I loved the Marked Men series, so to have the
opportunity to read about their kids was a special treat. While I loved the idea of seeing or
hearing about everyone, I did find at times it took away from Ry and Bowe’s story. I
understand the need to build the world, set the series, establish the family vibe, and to
announce the characters but at times it just didn’t fit.
I adored Ry and Bowe. I loved them separately and together they were golden. I could feel
the push and pull off the pages. Their story was well written and in true Crownover fashion
it didn’t always unfold as expected. The depth of their relationship was what sold me on
their story. The honesty and raw attraction stood out. I’m glad they were first up.
I am excited for more but hope that in future stories there is a little less front loading of
information and more authentic getting to know the new characters and reacquainting
with the older and perhaps wiser original characters. On first impression, I didn’t fall head
over heels for all the kids. I am intrigued with where things will develop and twist to change
my mind. I’m here for it.
