Title: Maybe Someday
Author: Colleen Hoover

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance—and the enchanting music that inspires one young woman to put her life back together.
At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.
Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

Home.
Home is a place that can drive you absolutely crazy one moment and makes you feel like a million dollars the next. It’s a refuge. A place where you can relax, you can put your feet up and just be yourself. A perfect way to describe a CoHo reading experience.
Colleen Hoover is home. Her writing simply lets you enjoy and escape from anything and everything else. The woman absolutely astounds me with her ability to craft words. The rhythm, the unique symbolism, the emotion, the way her words flow together. I cannot wrap my brain around how much I love her writing. This was more evident than ever in Maybe Someday. I am thoroughly convinced Ms. Hoover could write a book on the complexities of earth, and I would read it.
I think it’s simply the way she has written this book. If it had been any other person writing the exact same story line with the exact same characters, it wouldn’t have been the same. CoHo’s prose is simply beautiful. It’s poetry, it’s music to my ear. Every sentence in this book tells a story of it’s own. It’s unforgettable. It’s an experience.

“Desire is easy to fight. Especially when the only weapon possesses is attraction. It’s not so easy when you’re trying to win a war against the heart.”

Ridge. How can I even put him into words? He’s just… he’s charming, and utterly wonderful. He’s the kind of guy who will sacrifice even his own happiness for the sake of others. He’s loyal, caring and very protective. He’s unique approach to music makes him even more special and simply irresistible. His life is everything ordinary; a nice job, an almost perfect love life and he spends most of his time creating music for his band. But everything became complicated when Sydney entered his life.

“I’ve done the one thing I promised her I would never do. I just made her a Tori.”

Sydney. You knew it was coming. I couldn’t decide in the beginning whether to hate her or fall in love with her but I loved seeing her character developed. I enjoyed every single stolen scene with her in it. I became more intrigued by her not-fully-good, but not-fully-evil character.

“I don’t want him to be standing here in front of me. I don’t want him to be looking at me, wearing the expression that mirrors my own feelings. I don’t want him to hurt like I’m hurting. I don’t want him to miss me like I’ll miss him. I don’t want him to be falling for me like I’ve been falling for him.”

The chemistry between these two was incredible. The world that CoHo has set in this book is strangely beautiful and alluring, yet dark and completely foreign. Together, they make perfect songs. But sometimes you just can’t control how you feel. Even when you are keeping those feelings very quiet and concealed.

“I didn’t know I could feel someone this much. I didn’t know I could need someone this much. I had no idea I was capable of sharing this kind of connection with someone.”

CoHo gives us a beautiful story of friendship/romance and letting go/starting over, impressively married the two. I haven’t felt quite this overcome with affection for characters in so long, even when I was annoyed with both of their reactions to things or not agreeing with certain decisions. I really liked watching them finally get to know each other, letting their guards down. They challenged one another and I just couldn’t get enough. And that is what conflicted me the most. I honestly just wanted to stop time, while Sydney and Ridge were alone together, with just their music, guitar and the beating of their hearts present, being a real couple, and just being in love. I wanted to stop there just so they could be happy in my mind forever; regardless the rest of the world is in chaos.

“…there’s no middle ground. No right choice. My actions are becoming split directly down the middle, just like my heart. I can’t win for losing.”

Maybe Someday is simply… extraordinary. There’s really no other word for it. From the first page, the first line, the book completely enthralled me. It deserves so much more than five stars. Everything is just so right. No amount of hearts, or stars, or long words can amount to how much I simply LOVE this book.
It’s almost out of control how much I felt immediately at home, ready to curl up with hot cocoa until I was done. This is definitely a book that is meant to be re-read time and time again and absolutely the best reading experience so far in 2014.
Buy it, gift it, read it, treasure it and experience home.
